“This work is about more than just the recognition of racism in ourselves, or identifying the ills of policies, practices, history, and the Doctrine of Discovery. It is about our own healing as well. As I work on dismantling oppression, I also work on dismantling the internalized oppression that is a part racism and all the ‘-isms’ that keep people from recognizing their marvelous beings in the Body of Christ.”
- Michelle Armster, Roots of Justice Trainer |
"This has impacted my life in deepening my understanding of myself...on the other side of that discomfort is a freedom to engage in relationships...in more authentic and healthy ways...Take hold of the struggle and push through to the freedom that is there if we move toward it." - Phil Morice Brubaker, Roots of Justice Trainer

“I felt empowered for the first time and needed to share what I learned with other people, especially people of color... The ROJ antiracism training helped me to understand systemic racism.” - Thulani Conrad Moore, Roots of Justice Trainer

"When I left my first Antiracism Analysis Training I realized what made it radically different from other racism trainings. The training placed racism in a deeply historical and systemic context. It made it very clear how systems are put in place, and that we as individuals are products of those systems. It was relentless in its focus on the role of whiteness and power in creating those systems.
Perhaps most important to me, I realized that BIPOC people do not leave a Roots of Justice training feeling exhausted, unsupported, or angry. While the space focused on racism and antiracism, it was generative and supportive for BIPOC people. I am only grateful to be part of a group that has been transformative because it shared the antiracism journey authentically and humanly." - Dee Dee Risher, Roots of Justice Trainer |
